Send Photos and Files

How to Use Drop Mode

Open Drop Mode from Home, select photos, videos, or files, adjust the export options, then choose a destination and send them to Inbox.

Before you use Drop Mode

Drop Mode sends selected photos, videos, and files directly to the Inbox folder of a saved or new Node. You can also use Watermelon Link to send them to a computer.

Drop Mode is not a backup. It does not create backup records, update the remote index, or check whether the same file already exists. Sending the same item again creates another file in Inbox; a numbered name is used when needed to preserve both files.

Open Drop Mode

  • On Home, tap the paper-plane button in the lower-right corner.
  • The first time, review the introduction and tap Start Drop Mode.
  • You can enter Drop Mode before granting Photos access or connecting a Node. The App checks access and the destination when they are needed.
  • When no file is being imported or sent, use the mode-switch button to return to Backup. Your current Drop selection is kept.

Select photos, videos, and files

  • In Local Library, tap or drag across photos and videos to select them.
  • Under Files, tap Select Files and add files with the iOS file picker.
  • The bottom panel shows separate photo, video, and file counts. Tap a category to review its items, remove individual items, or clear that category.
  • Free users can send up to 3 selected items per send. Pro users do not have this per-send item limit.

Set the export options

  • Open Options under Local Library. You can enable Include MOV video, Send original photo when edited, Send original video when edited, and Remove location metadata separately.
  • By default, the two original-media options and the Live Photo MOV option are enabled; location removal is off.
  • Drop Mode can retrieve iCloud originals even when Allow iCloud Photo Access is off. These transfers still do not create backup records.
  • The export options apply to items from Photos. Files chosen with the system picker are sent with their original bytes and filename.

Choose a destination and send

  • Tap the paper-plane button in the bottom panel, then choose a saved Node, add a new Node, or choose Computer and connect through wmlink.app.
  • Drop Mode creates an Inbox folder under the selected destination and sends the files there directly.
  • You can pause, resume, or stop an active send. Keep the destination available; for Watermelon Link, keep the computer browser session open.
  • After the send finishes, tap the completion checkmark to clear the current selection and close the panel.
