Computer Backup

Back Up iPhone Photos to a Windows PC

Use Watermelon Link for the simplest Windows backup path, or add an existing Windows share as an SMB Node.

Updated July 17, 2026

Prepare the Windows PC

  • Connect the iPhone and Windows PC to the same local network.
  • Open link.watermelonbackup.com in Chrome or Edge.
  • Choose the folder where backups should be stored, then create the Link.
  • Allow local network access if Windows security software prompts for it.

Connect from the iPhone

  • Open Watermelon Backup and use the Backup to Computer / Watermelon Link entry.
  • Scan the QR code shown in the Windows browser.
  • Keep the browser tab open until the backup task finishes or you disconnect.
  • If the phone cannot connect, turn off VPN or network filtering and try again.

Run the backup

  • Return to Home and wait for the connection and remote index sync to finish.
  • Check the local-side months you want to back up.
  • Tap Execute, review the Backup / Download / Complete counts, then confirm.
  • Use Pause, Resume, or Stop from the bottom panel if you need to control a running task.

SMB is still an option

If you already use Windows file sharing, add the shared folder as an SMB Node instead. For a first backup to a PC, Watermelon Link is usually faster to set up.
