Storage Targets

Back Up iPhone Photos to OneDrive

Sign in with Microsoft, let Watermelon Backup create its OneDrive app folder, then run Backup from Home.

Updated July 31, 2026

Prepare OneDrive

  • Use a personal Microsoft account with OneDrive Personal. OneDrive for Business and SharePoint-backed drives are not supported in this release.
  • Make sure the OneDrive account has enough available storage.
  • Watermelon Backup uses Microsoft Graph with the Files.ReadWrite.AppFolder permission scope.
  • Backups are stored in Watermelon Backup's OneDrive app folder, and files outside that folder are not accessible to the app.

Add the OneDrive Node

  • In Watermelon Backup, choose Add OneDrive Storage.
  • Tap Sign in with Microsoft and finish sign-in.
  • After sign-in, Watermelon Backup creates or resolves its OneDrive app folder and runs a write check.
  • Save the Node and select it on Home.
  • Wait for connection and remote index sync to finish.

Run the backup

  • Grant Photos access if needed.
  • Check the local-side months you want to back up.
  • Tap Execute and confirm the task.
  • Keep the network stable while large videos or many items upload.

Account and limits

Watermelon Backup does not store your Microsoft password or a client secret. Account identity metadata is stored in iOS Keychain, while access and refresh tokens are managed by MSAL.

Availability depends on Microsoft sign-in, quota, throttling, account state, and network connectivity. If the account needs reauthentication, sign in again from the OneDrive Node settings.
